Some first-class news… We’re pleased to announce that our award wining golden ale Pure Gold 3.8% ABV has bagged a top place in the West Midlands CAMRA Beer of the Year 2008 competition.
The beer (which was awarded the title of Champion Beer of Warwickshire 2008 earlier this year) has won 1st place in the Bitter category (that means beer below 4% ABV) judged at the recent Birmingham Beer Festival which ran from 11-13 September at Aston University.
In order to enter the competition, Pure Gold had to be nominated by regional members of CAMRA - The Campaign for Real Ale, the UK’s largest consumer group which has been campaigning for real ale, pubs and drinkers rights since 1971. The most popular were put before a panel of expert judges and subject to a blind tasting.
Here at Purity we are naturally chuffed and delighted that hard core beer aficionado’s have give Pure Gold the big thumbs up because as well has pleasing the conventional cask fan we are pleased to report that Gold is having great success in converting the lager drinker.
We love real ale and are determined to bring its delights to a wider audience. Easy drinking Gold is definitely converting lots of them who are turning away from those multi-national global brands in search of something with quality ingredients and real provenance!
Our Head brewer Florent Vialan (who has been honing the aromas and finish to perfection since his arrival at Purity late 2006) says “It’s impossible to create a beer that everybody loves, but we’ve done our mouth-watering best! Thanks to all the CAMRA members who put Gold forward. It’s great to get local recognition.”
Gold will now go through with all the other West Midlands category finalists i.e. best bitter (beers 4% ABV and above), stout and mild to see which beer is judged the overall champion.
An awards ceremony is scheduled to take place later on in the year at the Barton Arms in Brum. We’ll keep you posted.
