There was much cause for celebration at team Purity last night as we learnt that our easy drinking golden ale, Pure Gold (3.8% A.B.V.) was voted the Champion Beer of Warwickshire 2008!!!
Yes, there were broad smiles all around, as the posse who attended last night’s awards ceremony at The Newbold Comyn Arms, Leamington Spa heard the results finally revealed by pub licensee and ale enthusiast, Nick Wormald.
The event was the culmination of a four week festival hosted by CAMRA Heart of Warwickshire and The Newbold Comyn Arms during which all of Warwickshire’s ten breweries submitted a beer to be blind-tasted and evaluated by hundreds of real ale loving punters.
There was stiff competition all around but after being short-listed for the semi-finals Purity came out tops beating Church End Brewery’s Can’t Believe It’s Not Anchor to the premier position.
On presenting this year’s award to Purity, Nick said “The Champion Beer of Warwickshire competition is now in its fourth year and Purity becomes the fourth different winner of the competition, demonstrating the superb range of ales available within the county.
It has been a pleasure to follow Purity’s success since they started brewing in 2005 and I know they have worked ceaselessly to develop Pure Gold into a world class beer. Winning this year’s Champion Beer of Warwickshire is a richly deserved accolade and my congratulations go to all connected with this award. Pure Gold will be a hard act to follow.”
Director Paul Halsey said “After winning Silver with Pure UBU in 2006, it’s a real pleasure for us to come back and win Gold. This latest tribute reflects Purity’s continuing commitment to producing first class beer and I pleased to say that Pure Gold has turned out to be a real cracker.”
Purity’s head brewer Flo Vialan added “It’s a great achievement and represents 12 months hard work honing the aromas and finish to perfection.”
