We are pleased to announce in no uncertain terms that the Goose has very definitely landed!!!
As part of our third birthday celebrations, our new (already award winning) cask pale ale, Mad Goose (4.2% abv) was officially launched at the Holly Bush Inn, Alcester on Tuesday 11 November in the fine company of our many customers, local beer aficionados’, the Purity team and (not forgetting) upstanding members of Alcester’s 700 year old Court Leet complete with Ale Taster!
Yep, there was hardly room only at the Inn when esteemed guests enthusiastically downed pints whilst listening to the great music provided by local musical talent, The Stephen Steinhaus Trio accompanied by some top grub from the Holly Bush kitchen.
Party goers from as far as Germany were charmed by those colourfully robed gentlemen of that old Alcester institution who’s new Ale Taster, Mr Terry Pegrum thankfully declared Mad Goose “wholesome and fit to drink”. They also enjoyed Stephen Steinhaus’s rendition of an especially composed ode to beer entitled “Less talk, more ale.”

Our Managing Director Paul Halsey said: “The launch of Mad Goose has given us much cause for much celebration coming as it does on Purity’s third birthday. We are ecstatic that it has already won a top regional award [see previous news post] as this really gives us credibility in a very competitive market place.

Mad Goose is the next stage on from our easy drinking golden ale Pure Gold 3.8% abv. We’ve responded to our customers who said they’d like something in between that and our 4.5% abv premium amber ale Pure UBU. Mad Goose gives us a real balance and choice over the range.”
Paul continues: “Our third birthday has certainly brought us much to celebrate and be proud of. It is a tough world out there but our commitment to consistently producing a top quality product has definitely been the key to our success. We look forward with much excitement and anticipation to the challenges ahead and beginning our fourth year brewing top class ales.”
Our new brew is a zesty yet smooth take on the classic beer style and inspired by a gang of four geese that fearlessly patrol our brewery’s farm location here at Upper Spernall Farm near Great Alne. Light copper in colour is it brewed with Maris Otter Malt, Caragold and Wheat Malt with Hallertau bittering hops, Cascade and Willamette aroma hops.
It is available direct from the brewery in 50cl bottles, 9 pint mini-casks and 36 pint poly-pins or on draught from discerning free houses throughout the region. For more information on stockists call the brewery on 01789 488007.
