OYEZ! OYEZ! Today we were proud to sponsor the 2008 Championship of the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers held in the ancient market town of Alcester, a few goodly miles down the road from t’ brewery.

Alcester has played host to this noisy clanger of a competition on Easter Saturday for many years and despite inclement weather conditions consisting of wind, rain and snow, the bells rang and the cries sounded throughout olden streets as 43 colourfully clad competitors from across the UK and beyond battled it out for the supreme champion.

With the town’s very own Town Crier David Parkes comparing the event, awards were also given out to best dressed crier, best dressed escort and best dressed couple.
